Sequential Pneumatic Sleeves
|

|
Helps Reduce Peripheral Edema
Using three independent chambers, the KCI Sequential Pneumatic
Sleeves provide gradient sequential compression, when used
with the System 7500 pump. By incorporating a soft nylon pile
inner liner, the pneumatic sleeves are extremely comfortable
to wear during use. |

Intermittent Pneumatic Sleeves
|

|
Helps Reduce Peripheral Edema
KCI Intermittent Pneumatic Sleeves are designed to operate
with all KCI Intermittent Extremity Pumps. Offering single
chambered pneumatic compression therapy, KCI Intermittent Pneumatic
Sleeves provide simplicity in design and use. As with all KCI
pneumatic sleeves, comfort is assured due to the soft nylon
pile inner liner. |

Using Intermittent Or Gradient Sequential Compression To
Reduce Edema
Conventional methods of treating primary and secondary edema, e.g.
rest, elevation, diuretics, antibiotics, and sodium-free diet, usually
fail to control this progressively debilitating condition. It is imperative
that the clinician first recognize and correct the underlying pathological
factors causing the edema with a planned program of intermittent hydrostatic
pressure. With the KCI Extremity Pump, fluid dynamics are held
in balance because excess intercellular fluid is "pumped" back
into the venous capillary system and lymphatic vessels.
A KCI Extremity Pump is a lightweight pneumatic pump designed to provide
intermittent or gradient sequential pressures depending on severity
and underlying pathology. The deflation phase of the compression cycle
allows lymphatic and venous vessels to fill with fluid. External counterpressure
during the inflation phase helps to accelerate interstitial fluid movement
in both the lymphatic and venous systems.
Common Indications For Using The Jobst Extremity Pump:
peripheral
edema
lymphedema
(postmastectomy, congenital)
venous
stasis ulcers
stump
reduction
hand
edema
Apply Comprilan low-stretch compression bandage between pumping sessions
to maintain the results achieved with the Jobst Extremity Pump Systems.
Once edema is reduced,Custom or ready-to-wear supports are indicated
to help prevent recurrences.
